Description
Pottery oil lamp, Byzantine - Islamic transitional Era. Circa 600-750 AD. The clay oil lamp features a spiked handle and a double ridge around the fill hole, it rests on a slightly raised circular base. Decorated with palm leaf and concentric semi-circle designs. Most likely produced during the early decades of Islamic (Ummayad Dynasty) rule. They were no doubt used in Christian contexts.
