Early Islamic pottery oil lamp, formed of fine pink clay. It has a rounded slipper shape spike handle and is decorated on the shoulders with high relief vertical lines. It rests on a slightly raised circular base. This is a fine quality artifact in very good condition, it was formerly in a Colorado private collection, assembled by a UN staffer while working in the Middle East in the mid- 1960s, thence by descent to the most recent owner.
