Description
This massive campo del cielo meteorite is comprised of Nickel, Iron and other trace metals. It was discovered in 1576 by Spanish explorers in Chaco Argentina. Thousands of pieces have been found near the impact craters. The largest weighing an immense 37 tons. Scientists have estimated the date of the fall to be around 3950-5800 yrs ago based on radiocarbon dating of charred trees in the vicinity.
This specimen is incredibly well preserved, featuring a beautifully sculpted shape making it an ideal display specimen, Its sheer size makes it a highly coveted specimen by collectors and admirers alike. This is one of the largest iron meteorites that we've had.
