Description
"Knightia Eocena" was a herring like fish it is one of the more common fossil fish found in the Green River Formation. Specimens have been found measuring up to 25 centimeters in length (about 10 inches). Numerous Mass Mortality Plates demonstrate that this Lake fish probably swam in schools closely related to today's Clupea and herrings, they lived and prospered about 50 million years ago in freshwater lakes, which are now southwestern Wyoming. These fossil fish are in good condition featuring lots of great detail and color.
