Description

Nanotyrannus meaning "Dwarf tyrant" us a genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 67 million years ago. Anatomically, Nanotyrannus was very similar in skeletal structure to T-rex.
Nanotyrannus likely had sharp, serrated teeth and an agile build, suggesting it was a quick, nimble predator. It may have weighed up to 1 ton, and measured up to 16' long.
Previously, there has been some debate over whether or not Nanotyrannus was a juvenile T-rex or its own separate species, but a recent study by two notable paleontologist concluded that it is in fact its own species.

This Nanotyrannus tooth is exceptionally large and well preserved, it is still in its original matrix. It has excellent serration, color and preservation.

Size: 1.25" L x .5" W (excluding matrix)

Provenance: Hell creek formation, Montana, USA.

Age: Maastrichtian (72.1-66 MYA)

Type: Actual specimen - one only
