Description

This remarkable large Sericho Pallasite Meteorite slice showcases one of nature’s rarest and most beautiful combinations — gem-quality olivine (peridot) crystals suspended in a shimmering iron-nickel matrix. This specimen reveals a breathtaking window between Earth and the cosmos, a tangible piece of a shattered asteroid core that journeyed millions of miles through space before its fall to Earth.

This Sericho pallasite meteorite was discovered in 2016 by two brothers who were searching for their camels and came across several large, dense stones west of the village of Habaswein and south of Sericho, Kenya. Most Pallasites are composed of approximately 50% Olivine, and 50% nickel-iron. This particular meteorite had a high crystal density upwards of 70-80% olivine. Pure Olivine is usually green, but the olivine crystals in this meteorite took on a yellow, orange hue during its long voyage to earth.

This large display specimen features exceptional color contrast and translucence when backlit, revealing the deep golden-green hues that make pallasites the “jewels of the meteorite world.” Expertly prepared and polished on both sides, it’s ideal for collectors, educators, or as a one-of-a-kind statement piece in any meteorite collection or gallery.
This specimen comes with a custom welded iron display stand and a remote controlled USBC rechargeable spot light.
