Description
This authentic CV3 carbonaceous meteorite is a primitive carbonaceous chondrite often referred to as an “Origin of Life” meteorite due to its ancient formation and early solar system materials. CV3 meteorites are among the most scientifically important meteorites and are believed to contain some of the earliest solid material formed in the solar nebula over 4.5 billion years ago.
CV3 carbonaceous meteorites are known for their distinctive appearance, often displaying colorful chondrules, calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs), and primitive matrix material. These inclusions are some of the oldest known solids formed in the solar system and are studied to understand planetary formation and the building blocks of life.
Because of their primitive chemistry and early formation, CV3 meteorites are commonly associated with the raw ingredients that contributed to the development of life on Earth, earning them the nickname “Origin of Life” meteorites.
