Description

This impressive large Otodus obliquus shark tooth comes from the world-famous Oued Zem phosphate mines of Morocco, a site renowned for yielding some of the most beautiful and well-preserved marine fossils on Earth. This genuine fossil tooth belonged to an extinct mackerel shark related to the megalodon, as it is considered one of its direct ancestors. It is the prehistoric predecessor of the megatooth lineage that eventually led to Otodus megalodon.
Each tooth displays the classic Otodus form: a broad, triangular crown with sharp cutting edges and graceful side cusplets.
Otodus obliquus is the oldest known ancestor of the megalodon, living from the Paleocene to the Eocene epochs, approximately 66 to 34 million years ago.

This is an exceptionally large and well preserved specimen making it highly sought after after and desirable in the collector community.
